Before the day
- Sleep well and eat a light meal; skip alcohol the night before
- Wear flat, thin-soled shoes for pedal feel
- Bring your physical license; complete the waiver online
- Consider an optional ride-along first to learn the line
On track
- Listen to your instructor; they'll call braking points and turns
- Look far ahead through each corner, where you want the car to go
- Be smooth: brake in a straight line, then turn, then accelerate out
- Don't chase lap times; enjoy the car
In Texas heat
Summer track days can top 100°F. Drink water, wear a breathable shirt and bring a hat for the pit area. Fall and spring are the most comfortable.
